Saturday June 28th 2:30 pm President’s Report The Euro 2008 tournament is well under way and there have been a few shocks which is par for the course at this level, it just isn’t the same when you have no team to follow but that’s not for too much longer as the new SPL season isn’t that far away and Rangers will be soon back in action. It seems the close season gets shorter and shorter every year. Rangers have been active in the transfer market picking up 3 strikers so it looks like we will have lots of firepower up front does this mean a change of tactics is forthcoming? It would be nice to see more positive attacking football time will tell I’m sure. There are lots of things happening at the club right now entertainment wise so please come out and support the club as best you can
Secretary’s Report Summer Greetings to all our members and their families. Congratulations go out to Fraser and Sonja Wilson who have a new Granddaughter, Madeline Patricia Wilson born Saturday June 16th. I have recently returned from an excellent NARSA convention in Calgary and even though the weather was non cooperative we Bears know how to have a great time anyway. The NARSA motions that were discussed at the clubs last general meeting were not presented at the NARSA AGM primarily due to a procedural issue in regards to a cover letter not being produced. Andy Cameron MC’D most of the events during the week and did a great job often having us in stitches (though my fiancée could not understand his Scots dialect). Next years convention is closer to home in Niagara Falls at the Sheraton Falls View and we will have part of the Hard Rock Café dedicated as a Bears Den. The convention rates for the hotel are now available and I would recommend booking early as I am sure it is going to be a sell out. I have published the provisional SPL match schedule, as we know this is going to be subject to change for TV and them not being able to behave themselves at 3:00 pm kick offs back home. Of note however are the two Wednesday night games. We are also trying to get the friendly game against Liverpool August 2nd at the club as well.
Club News Monthly General Meeting will take place on

Rangers News. Well silly season is with on us, the transfer rumours are going to be rife for the next while with Rangers no doubt being linked to many players, and rumours of players leaving. The big one at present is Kenny Miller being the first player to cross the old firm divide twice. How he is better than Kris Boyd I cannot comprehend. All Boyd does is score goals, which I thought was always the point of the game. Peter Lovenkrands is also rumoured to be heading back. Many of us see the need for a central defender and hoping that we can hold on to Cuellar. David Weir has been a stalwart back there, but age has to catch up with him sometime. There is a need for a quality Right back along with the hope that Steven Smith is back and ready to add to his impressive displays from last year, (remember at that time the issue was the right back Hutton, not the left back). Will we keep Seven Davis? Offer Cousins and cash to Fulham for him? Is there a creative midfielder that Rangers can entice to head to Ibrox that we can afford? Good news is Alan McGregor should be ready to start the new season. While it was his ankle he injured against Celtc, he had minor knee surgery this week. Webster had hernia surgery and will miss the season opener. Is he another Daniel Prodan, (remember him? If you do it is not because you saw him play for Rangers). Sebo should firm up his loan French club Valencienneswith a permanent transfer for the region of ¾ million pounds. And finally Did you hear about the blonde who went into the gas station and said to the attendant. “WOW, you guys have really improved the speed of your pumps; it takes me about ½ the time to pump $20.00 worth of gas than it did last year”. ......................Iain Boyle Secretary SPL Fixtures for the upcoming season: August Sat 9 7:30 am A Falkirk Sat 16 10:00 am H Hearts Sat 23 10:00 am A Aberdeen Sat 30 10:00 am A Celtic September Sat 13 10:00 am H Kilmarnock Sun 21 10:00 am H Motherwell Sat 27 10:00 am A Hibernian October Sat 4 10:00 am A St. Mirren Sat 11 No game Sat 18 10:00 am H Dundee Utd Sat 25 10:00 am A Hamilton November Sat 1 10:00 am H Inverness CT Sat 8 10:00 am A Kilmarnock Wed 12 2:45 pm A Motherwell Sat 15 10:00 am H St. Mirren Sat 22 10:00 am H Aberdeen Sat 29 10:00 am A Hearts December Sat 6 10:00 am H Hamilton Sat 13 10:00 am A Dundee Utd.
